Kathleen Clare Waller
Kate is a writer, researcher, teacher, and cultural educator based in London. She is Director of Buxton Book Festival and has spent over two decades working in international schools, where she has led English and Language & Literature departments and taught literature, cultural studies, ethics, the arts, and epistemology.
Originally from Lexington, Massachusetts, Kate has lived and worked across Europe and Asia, including Basel, Paris, Milan, Hong Kong, Vienna, Fukuoka, and London. Her experiences of place, migration, language, and belonging inform both her fiction and nonfiction.
Her most recent novel, An Interpreter in Vienna, explores the hidden histories and shifting identities of post-war Europe. Her forthcoming novella Aperçu continues her interest in the spaces between truth and perception, memory and reinvention.
Kate is currently working on a triptych of novellas and developing new literary projects that explore the complexities of human connection across cultures. Through writing, teaching, and community-building, she is drawn to the questions that emerge when people move between worlds.
